I'm soon to leave the place and the people that have been "home" for 12 years. For the first time in my adult life I will be unemployed as I work to finish a PhD. That will require me to hermit myself for one year as I read, collect data, analyze, and write. I will no longer be rubbing shoulders daily with others. As principal, I have been the spiritual leader of a community of over 500 students, teachers and parents. Monday morning staff worship, classroom talks, and scattered community events have given me regular reason to write and to speak about things of spiritual importance.
Spiritual, mental, and behavioral congruence is central to my life. However, I remember times when my spirit slept, my mind lost focus, and my behaviors became contradictory. To avoid that I am starting this blog with a goal of a post each week. It will require the same level of contemplation and commitment that I invested in the weekly staff worships. I hope this will keep me on track spiritually until I take up the demands of work and society once more. The focus of the blog will be on applying the principles Jesus shared in the Sermon on the Mount and in His parables.
I'm looking forward to reading your posts, Jim!
